Recipe Description

This recipe is one of our family's oldest, passed down from my great-grandmother to my grandmother, my mother, and finally to me. It's also one of my favorites.

Quarkklöße is a dish that is on the sweeter side and pairs well with cinnamon sugar or apple purée. It can be eaten fresh out of the cooking pot or a day or two later after being stored in the fridge.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Ingredients: This is what you need

This list of ingredients provide you with all that you need to cook up some delicious quarkklöße:

Instructions: Your step-by-step guide to success

If you follow the steps below, you're guaranteed to make some delicious quarkklöße.

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. While the water is heating, prepare the dough for the quarkklöße.
  2. Using a mixer with whisk attachments, beat the margarine, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy. Then add the salt, quark, and breadcrumbs and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, then stir the mixture into the dough.
  4. Once all ingredients are well combined, use a tablespoon to place the quarkklöße into the boiling water. Immediately reduce the heat to low and let them simmer gently for about 40 minutes. While cooking, the quarkklöße will loosen from the bottom of the pot.
  5. After about 40 minutes, remove them from the water and let them drain in a sieve or colander.

It is recommended to serve the quarkklöße with cinnamon sugar, applesauce, or cherry compote.
